Women’s History Month has ended, but celebrating women has inspired us to start blogging again!
I am often asked, “What is unique, different, and special about Pinecliffe?” To be clear, there are a million things that are unique, different, and special about Pinecliffe; it is, after all, my favorite place in the world. But the answer I always come back to is that Pinecliffe is and has always been a camp run by women for girls. Because of this, it empowers girls and gives them an experience that helps them become strong young women.
Young girls learn to waterski, play sports, hike, camp, sail, and swim, to name a few. However, camp is also where they learn confidence, failure, success, kindness, empathy, gratitude, leadership, teamwork, and so much more. How do they learn these essential—and necessary—life skills? Primarily, they learn through the example set by all women at Pinecliffe: our campers, bunk counselors, heads of departments, and leadership staff.
And so, for us, every month is Women’s History Month, and every day we celebrate our female role models from the past and all those who continue to empower girls today.
